Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Inspired photography?

You frequently hear it said that ‘everyone has a story’. Well, I believe that to be true and life inspired photography tells your story. It is spending time with your family or your business, observing and telling the story ‘behind the scenes’. It’s not about awkward poses and trying to get everyone to look at the camera and smile. You get to experience life instead of trying to capture it on your phone.

What is a family session like?

The experience of working with me is comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable. You and your family can be yourselves - in a setting that feels natural to you. It’s the everyday moments that make life special. A Day In The Life session captures your family from sunrise to sunset. Getting your day going, preparing meals, playtime, reading bedtime stories, bath time and all the moments in between that you will be surprised I was able to catch. A Life Moments session is planned around activities that are special to you. It could be Saturday morning preparing breakfast and playing outside. Or it could be cheering on your kids at a soccer game. They are designed to capture your family just as they are.

What is a commercial session like?

Where you work is not just a place. It’s about your team, the customers you serve and the experience you create. Through listening and observing, I tell the real story of your business. You can then let your customers know what makes you great and showcase your team doing what they love. The result is to document what your business is like today.

When do I get to see my photos? How do I see my photos? How do I place an order?

We will have an in-home ordering appointment where you will review your photos and decide on which products to order. I will have done the pre-work to select the best photos from your session so that you can quickly preview your images and select your favorites for an album or wall portraits.

I use a software program so that you will be able to see and envision what wall portraits will look like in your home to determine the what size portrait is best for you space. If you are interested in an album, you will see an electronic version of the album so that you will know it tells your story. These will give you the confidence you are purchasing the right products for you.

Do I have to buy a set photo package or album?

No! You put together your own collection of products with no more and no less than what you exactly want. Session fees and products are priced separately to help you plan your perfect collection.

Do you offer payment plans to purchase products?

Yes. Payments can be made over three months with no interest. Your order will be placed after final payment is received.

What happens if I have to cancel or reschedule my session?

When you book a session with me I block out that time on my calendar and reserve that time for you. Because of this, all sessions require a deposit that is not refundable but can be applied to another session.

What do I / we wear?

I do not recommend planning outfits specifically for your photo session. The most important thing is to be comfortable and natural in the way you dress. Keep in mind these are photographs you will be looking at for many years to come and you want to remember your family as they are today.

If you really want some basic guidelines for the Sunset sessions, here are a few.

  • First, do not try to match everyone.

  • Color Scheme: pick 2 or 3 main colors and then add pops of color.

  • Think textures and layers.

  • Limit patterns for wall portraits - they can be distracting.

  • No graphics or large logos.

  • Finally, solid colors always look best.
