Using a multi-step process, I lift a very thin, transparent emulsion which contains a photograph and transfer it to paper created by RePapel Puerto Plata. The texture and color of the paper adds interest, variety and depth. Each piece is an original with unique variations making each one slightly different than the others. It is a delicate process with each piece taking several days to create.
I use various techniques to achieve the desired impact for each final piece. For some I alter the transfer to give soft edges to the image. For others, I trim the transparency film to give a sharp edge to the image. To create a layered effect I make several pieces with the same image. Then using one piece as the base, I tear and layer the others to create an original piece.
